Ship 17 is a model ship milled in a copper alloy by the hand of the Greek artist Pougaridis.
In it is a lamp which makes it a light object. The reason for the light is the fact that this type of model construction on board Greek ships is used as a 'Christmas tree'.
The artist lives and works in Thessaloniki, Greece, a city at the water and port.
Greece: Land of shipowners and large tankers that come and go.
In the eyes of the artist these architectural mastodons get distinct forms.
They are always formed uniquely and to break the monotony.
'I look over the water - from the bow over the deck, to the bridge and in my imagination these ships get magical-visual proportions that either coincide with reality or they don’t.
