Very old 7 luk Keris (Kris) from Sumatra (Indonesia).

Ancient Keris originating from Sumatra with still visible pamor. This is pretty rare for a Sumatran Keris.
The Keris has a clear pamor blade (damask-like pattern). This is caused by the technique of forging various types of iron in layers by the Empu (traditional Keris blacksmith).

The name of this pamor is Beras Wutah (freely translated: scattered rice), a beloved pamor motif because of its beauty and properties. The magical properties of this pamor offer protection to the holder of the keris and are good for harmony in the family, health and safety.
The pamor is difficult to fix on picture but is still well visible.

The Keris itself (the blade) is of very old age in my opinion. I think that I am still on the cautious side saying it’s from the beginning of the 19th century, in other words, I think the keris is even older.

The keris is in a beautiful wooden sheath which can be found in Sumatra, a matching wooden Jawa Demam grip (stylized Garuda) with a beautiful Selut. The grip is very nicely carved with plenty of detail in Tanduk Kerbau (Buffalo Horn).

The covering (sheath and grip) of this Keris is unique and very beautiful, with an old repair at the bottom.

The length of the Keris blade is 33 cm, the whole is 50 cm.
