Adu Zatua statue from the small island of Nias off the western coast of Sumatra. This island is famous for its ancestral cultures, for its monoliths as well as for its architecture which resisted to earthquakes, very common in this part of the world.
These statues of Adu Zatua ancestors represent the founding ancestor of the clan. The bearded ancestor wears a crown, the Kalabubu necklace and has a cup in his hands. He sits on a traditional stool and his legs are bent.
Very hard (Ebony?) wood with shiny black patina from wear.
